LG's latest Gram laptop uses a touchpad to play peek-a-boo
At CES 2023, LG unveiled its latest line of Gram laptops, which include a model with a "hidden" touchpad and another with a slim profile.

At CES 2023, LG unveiled its latest line of Gram laptops, including a model with a "hidden" touchpad. The Gram series represents LG's line of ultraportable laptops, often offering slim and light designs without sacrificing important features. LG released its first Gram laptop in 2015 and has frequently updated the line. While Gram devices initially had smaller screen sizes, the company has also introduced 16- and 17-inch models in recent years in keeping with its "small and light" design philosophy.
One of the more notable additions to LG's Gram lineup this year is the Gram Style, which comes in 14-inch and 16-inch options with a glass design and a variety of colorways available. But its USP is a tactile touchpad hidden in plain sight. When the user touches the general touchpad area below the keyboard, the LED backlight below the touchpad lights up to differentiate it from the rest of the body. It makes the device stand out in a market full of similar Windows laptops, but it may affect the productivity of users who rely on touch to determine the position of the touchpad.
LG's 2023 Laptop Lineup

Gram Style laptops feature OLED anti-glare low-reflective displays, 16:10 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. They're powered by Intel's 13th Gen Core Raptor Lake P CPUs, backed by up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 1TB Gen 4 MVMe SSDs. Both the 16-inch and 14-inch models offer atmospheric audio with Dolby Atmos and support for Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI connections.
In addition to the Style, LG's 2023 Gram lineup also includes Ultraslim laptops, which the company says are "the thinnest Gram models to date". The device has an ultra-portable form factor, weighs only 998 grams and is only 10.99mm thick. The Ultraslim is powered by Intel's 13th Gen Core Raptor Lake P processors and features a 15.6-inch OLED display with an anti-glare low-reflection (AGLR) coating.
In addition to the Style and Ultraslim, LG's 2023 Gram laptop lineup includes 17-, 16-, 15-, and 14-inch models, which the company says offer everything consumers have come to expect from the lineup, such as powerful performance and lightweight design.
